In 1950, Ibaraki Pottery Training Center was founded in order to promote the productivity of pottery making in Ibaraki Prefecture. The Training Center was renamed Ibaraki Prefectural Kasama College of Ceramic Art and reformed into an educational and research institute which aims to educate the next generation of young talented potters who take the initiative in Japanese modern pottery."
