Ryōgon-ji Temple (Main gate)
The Ryōgon-ji is the ancestral temple of the Kasama clan, founded by Tokitomo Kasama. The temple has a wooden standing statue of the Thousand-armed Kannon, with Tokitomo’s inscription carved within it. The front gate was erected in 1374 during the Muromachi period (1336 - 1573) by Daisetsu Sonō, a Japanese priest of the Rinzai Sect of Buddhism who learned Rinzai Zen in China. The Japanese government has designated the wooden standing statue of the Thousand-armed Kannon and the front gate important cultural properties.
