Shunpu Banri-so Villa
Japan Heritage/Architecture
The Shunpu Banriso Villa is an annex of the Kasama Nichido Museum of Art. This facility is a notable example of artistic buildings at the Kasama Artists Village. The building, which was relocated here from Kita-Kamakura, Kanagawa Prefecture in 1965, is the former home of Kitaōji Rosanjin, a noted Japanese artist. The Shunpu Banriso Villa is a solid building with a half-hipped thatched roof, which was originally built as a private house in the mid Edo period (1603 - 1868). The building is left as it was when Kitaōji Rosanjin was living there.
