Shōji Hamada made magnificent ceramic-ware by making free use of a variety of pottery techniques, such as "flow glazing", "red-painting" and "salt glazing". In particular, ceramic-ware, decorated with his unique "kibimon" pattern, is bold and dynamic. The five pieces possessed by the Shōji Hamada Memorial Sankōkan Museum in the town of Mashiko were designated tangible cultural properties by Mashiko town.
